Cornerstone Baptist became the latest addition to the Baptist work in Malaysia on 29th November 1998 when she held her inauguration meeting at 2B, Jalan PJS 7/3A, with 121 chartered members and Rev. Pastor Mark Chen as her first Senior Founding Pastor. The work expanded, and from the initial 1st floor of one tower, the church occupied the 2nd floor of the other tower block.

In April 1999, CBC purchased the land where the current building stands with a sum of almost RM 330,000.00. The usage of land is designated as a kindergarten and hence a kindergarten building was built on the land with a cost of RM 1.25 million.

The construction of the building began in November 2004 and was eventually completed in 2006. The first service that was held in this building was the Christmas service in 2006. The kindergarten started operation in January 2007. The building dedication service was held on 28th July 2007.

​

Throughout these 16 years, CBC went through much in her journey as the Church of Jesus in the PJS area, but God remains faithful throughout, and He has brought us through all trials and trouble, good times and bad times. Our Senior Founding Pastor, Rev. Mark Chen, left the pastoral ministry of CBC in early 2006. God subsequently brought to us Pastor Timothy Yap as our next Pastor at the beginning of 2008 for about 1.5 years. Our current Pastor, Rev. Soong, came to CBC in early 2010 and retired this year, and we wish him and his family a very blessed retirement.

God has been truly good to CBC through all circumstances. As we celebrate our 16th anniversary as a church, let’s all give thanks to our LORD for his grace and mercy on us all as the blessed people of God. At the same time, we need to look to Him for the unfinished tasks ahead of us as His church in PJS 7.

​

The harvest is indeed plentiful out there, awaiting the servants of God to bring in the harvest. As we look ahead as His people, His servant in PJS 7, let’s not lose our focus to trust and depend on Him always to carry us through future challenges as He has done some wonderfully throughout these 16 years.
